Cohousing Harrow has developed a membership policy which aligns with the shared values of our community.  As such, prospective members will be required to allocate some of their time to familiarising themselves with how cohousing works and with the community itself.  The prospective member will also be able to decide if they want to move to the next phase of joining cohousing, and more broadly, if cohousing is the right decision for them.  Each stage of the membership process requires an application which will be assessed in accordance with our Membership Criteria and  Allocations Policy.

An individual can become involved with Cohousing Harrow at one of the following four levels:

Supporter – a person who does not wish to become part of Cohousing Harrow, but is interested in our progress, and is, perhaps, willing to give us financial or non-financial support. Supporters do not have to make a financial contribution – but are very welcome to do so! Join us as a Supporter

Friend – a person who is interested in finding out more about becoming a member of Cohousing Harrow. This is the first step to full membership. Once Friends have spent a little time finding out more about us, they may choose to apply for Associate Membership. Conversely, if they realise that cohousing is not for them but are still interested in our project, they may decide to become a Supporter instead. Apply to become a Friend of Cohousing Harrow

Associate Member – a person who is interested in becoming a resident, is considering applying for full membership, and is directly involved in the work of Cohousing Harrow. Those who apply for full membership remain Associate Members until a decision is made on their application.

Full Member – a person who has been accepted into Cohousing Harrow. Initially they are classed as an Unallocated Member. Once a Full Member has been allocated to a project/site in accordance with our allocations policy, they become an Allocated Member.  They will also select an Equity or Social Rent option.
